DAY 1:
WELCOME TO GHANA

You are picked up from the airport upon your arrival, and then transferred to the hotel for check-in, so you can relax and freshen up. You receive a hearty welcome to Ghana by drumming and dancing troops.

DAY 2:
ACCRA CITY TOUR

Today we take a tour of the beautiful and historic city of Accra, the capital of Ghana. Among the sites we visit are: the Jamestown Colonial Site, the museum dedicated to the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the Black Star Square, and the Art And Craft Centre.

DAY 3:
CAPE COAST TOUR

On this day, we visit the Cape Coast Slave Castle, the Assin Manso Slave River, and the Cape Coast Colonia Areas. The Cape Coast Slave Castle was built by European traders and it is rich in history. During the guided tour you will get to know this “gate of no return” castle, which was the last stop for slaves before crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Assin Manso is a river site where slaves would bathe after their long journeys, and get cleaned up for sale. It would be their last bath before heading to the slave ships, never to return to Africa. Donko Nsuo in Assin Manso is an hour’s drive from the coastal forts, and makes for an easy day trip.

DAY 4:
ELMINA TOUR

Today we visit Elmina Township, the first European settlement in West Africa, plus the Elmina Slave Castle and the forts. Elmina Castle was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea, and it is the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara. Elmina Castle is a historical site, since it became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade.

DAY 5:
KAKUM NATIONAL PARK TOUR

On this day we travel to one of Ghana’s national parks to do some exploring and then catch the evening safari. Kakum National Park, on the southern coast of Ghana, has a protected rain forest which is home to endangered mammals such as bongo antelopes, forest elephants, and monkeys. The park is also rich in many species of butterflies and birds. Its canopy walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground, provides treetop views of the forest.

Our day will be filled with many activities:

  • Enjoying the view from the canopy walkway.
  • Hiking through the forest and across the rivers.
  • Observing exotic bird species from the canopy.
  • Memorializing the experience with unforgettable photos.

The wildlife and forest reserves are a stunning place with breathtaking sights. They are a popular tourist destination that attracts a large number of local and foreign visitors annually.

In addition, today we visit Hans’ Cottage and Crocodile Pond, located in Cape Coast. Another notable tourist destination, it is famous as a place where you can observe crocodiles closely.

DAY 6:
EASTERN TOUR

Today we visit Boti Falls, popularly known as the “twin waterfalls” located at Boti in Manyo Krobo, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. We will descend 200 steps on our way to these male and female waterfalls.

After visiting the falls, we will take a hike to the Umbrella Rock, a beautiful rock formation. Make sure you bring along your hats and sunshades!

DAY 7:
VOLTA TOUR

On this day, we visit the largest man-made lake in the world by surface area, Lake Volta. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ghana, and also a major source of foreign exchange to the country.

Interesting activities at Lake Volta include:
. Fishing.
. A visit to Digya Park.
. Taking a cruise to Dodi Island.
. Seeing the Akosombo Dam.

We will also visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, where we will interact with the famous Mona Monkeys.

DAY 8:
DEPARTURE

This is the day to rest and reflect on your wonderful experience while in Ghana. It is also a free day for you to go out shopping since it’s the last day of our tour.
By evening, you will be moved to the airport for departure back to the United States.
